Kangeiko 2018

On Friday, January 26th, six members of Yoseikan Anderson participated in the 38th annual Kangeiko (winter training) hosted at the Honbu dojo in Covington, Kentucky. Shihan William Jansak and our own Shihan Shawna Lingo were the instructors.

Dinner was served prior to turning in for the night then the group was woken up sometime around 3a Saturday morning and trained throughout the darkest and coldest part of the night until 9a. No talking was observed and all the clocks were removed so that we could get lost in the training.  Warm tea was served to us after our outdoor run by Renshi Gerald Meade and after we bowed out, Meiyo Hanshi (Okusan), Kyoshi Sherry Kembre and Kathy and Paul Webster had a full and delicious breakfast waiting for us.

Kangeiko is an annual event and is limited to green belts and above. Participants must be at least 15 years old.  If you haven't taken part in a Kangeiko before, now's your chance to plan for next January!
